A 1.4 Consultation: Draft Operational Plan



A 1.4 Consultation: The Operational Plan was held in Ankara on March 5th, 2020, following the A 2.6 Workshops: Protocols and Methodologies with the same participants. The agenda of the consultation was moderated by Mark Dimech, Mario Sbrana, Claudia Musumeci and Paolo Carpentieri.

In the consultation, related discussions and presentations were made under the topics of proposal of a National data collection programme along the Turkish Mediterranean and Black Sea coasts, discussions and analyses about organizational features and presentation of the roadmap.

In the proposal of a National data collection programme along the Turkish Mediterranean and Black Sea coasts, the topics related to transversal data that include capacity and effort data and collection of landing data, and biological data that include demographic data to be collected based on the GFCM an the EU/DCF provisions, definition of priority species in the Mediterranean and Black Sea, biological data to be collected for the identified species were discussed. Also, evaluations have been made on the application of scientific research surveys at sea including demersal species, small pelagics and benthic species.

In the analysis of organizational features, discussions were made on the technical aspects of the monitoring surveys, areas and fleet segment(s) to be investigated, system to ensure adequate data quality and storage and management of the data collected.

Finally, distribution of activities among the members of the working group and operational units for the complete coverage of the Turkish coast located at the Sub Geographical Area level (GFCM/FAO GSA) topics that will be take part in the operational plan were covered in detail.
